The Sutro Baths was a public swimming complex on the coast of San Francisco that burned down in 1966. I discovered the ruins of this bathhouse shortly after moving to the Bay Area. I visit the baths every so often to relax and ponder the meaning of life. These are some of the moments that have grabbed my attention there.

My life completely changed on August 16, 2016 when I fell through a rotted porch and landed in the basement six feet below. This accident left me with irreversible nerve damage, a bulging disc, arthritis and homelessness. “Get Lost” is a documentation of landscapes and horizons that allowed me to stop focusing on how I would never be the same but rather the beauty that life has to offer. On each image I have collaged a picture of the Instagram symbol for tagging a person within the landscape. This was to remind the viewer that it is very easy for a person to get lost in this world, however, this world can also help someone who is lost.

On March 4th, 2018 I became homeless. For the next four months I lived in my Ford Explorer. Living in my car was very difficult both physically and mentally. My partner purchased a monthly pass to the carwash for me. Such a small gesture but one that was huge for me. It provided me a sense of normalcy, as I was able to clean “my house” on a regular basis. Going to the carwash was something that I looked forward to every day. I was able to stop thinking for a while and just watch the abstractions that were being painted across my windshield.
